Global business strategy often takes the form of a company choosing whether to focus on being locally responsive or globally integrated. In general, companies fall into one of four categories:


In this case your company is neither globally integrated or locally responsive in the overseas market.


In this case, your company has a number of foreign subsidiary, each of which who are extremely locally responsive.

Pure Global

Companies in this area can fall into two camps. They either can

  1. be companies that use their marketing prowess to create global brands
  2. be manufacturing companies that split their manufacturing amongst many countries in order to take advantage of labor and natural resources in different countries


These companies take advantage of economies gained by global coordination and they have the ability to respond to local markets like multi-domestic firms are able to.
